Question:How to assembly it?

Answer:Work the spring into the bracket and line the opening of each end of the spring over the pre-drilled holes on the bracket. Then slip the shaft of the wheel assembly through the pre-drilled hole and through the spring. Once you have the shaft inserted place the cotter pin provided into the hole of the shaft. Place the assembly against the gate and mark the 6 holes on the gate. Drill the holes and then insert the bolts through the holes from the opposite side of the gate that the assembly will mount. Place the assembly over the bolts and install washers and nuts and tighten. I used self locking nuts. You will need to buy nuts, washers and bolts that fit the pre-drilled holes and the thickness of your gate. To adjust the hight of the wheel, hold the wheel assembly and with the other hand grasp the spring and rotate the spring until you have the height that you want. 

Question:What size are the bolt hole size on the brackets ?? 5/16 ?

Answer:Yes they are 5/16 . This is very nice and is great wheel but it was more heavy duty than I wanted for my 10’ chain link gate. Probably better on heavy steel hats or wooden

Question:What is the travel distance for up and down?

Answer:The wheel will only travel up compressing the spring this may cause some tension on the gate as it take lots of pressure to compress the spring
