Metal stamping parts

  • Q How much does the tooling cost?

    A We refer to the tooling charge as a NREC (Non-Recurring Engineering Charge). For a simple flat part with round holes about 2in x 4in, we would charge about $250.00. As the parts become more complex, the NREC gets higher, but is still the most economical way to build tooling that will last for the life of the job.

  • Q What about metal stamping part quality?

    A Our methods of tooling will produce the same or better quality than all other methods of fabrication.

  • Q How many parts will this tooling produce?

    A Our short run tooling is guaranteed for the life of the job. You never have to pay for repair or maintenance.

  • Q Can you stamp more than one part in your metal stamping operations?

    A Yes, the process is called nesting and using it effectively allows Cangzhou Futong Company to keep production costs competitive while lowering material costs.

  • Q Do you design your own tooling?

    A Yes, Cangzhou Futong will work with the customer to define the appropriate production parameters and will develop a draft tool design for our customer’s approval.

  • Q What is metal stamping?

    A
    Stamping is a term used to refer to various press forming operations including coining, embossing, blanking, and pressing. Forming metals using pressure into the surface of a metal, usually a strip or sheet.
    The operations most commonly associated with stamping are blanking, piercing, forming, and drawing.
    These operations are done with dedicated tooling also known as hard tooling. Hard tooling is used to make high volume parts of one configuration of part design.
    Soft tooling, on the other hand, is used in processes such as CNC turret presses, laser profilers, and press brakes. Soft tooling, on the other hand, can be easily modified or adjusted.
